House Challenge Morning and Dress Down - Wednesday, March 27

Students and Staff are encouraged to wear their house colours on Wednesday, March 27 for our first challenge morning of the Spring term. This will be a team-oriented event where students will work with their grade-house teams to try and determine where Mr Hamilton has gone as he enters an early retirement. 😉

Middle school students will participate from 8:30am - 9:10am and Senior students from 9:15am - 9:55am.

Chair Candidate Meet & Greets - Wednesday/Thursday, March 27/28 @ 8:00am - 8:45am in Cafe

Students and staff are invited to meet with next year’s Chair candidates on Wednesday and Thursday morning before first period.

This is one event where we are helping The York community become informed voters before the speeches and election on Wednesday, April 3. And, there will be hot chocolate provided - please Bring Your Own Mug as we try and keep the green in GLAD!

A reminder that the Chair leadership position is the highest student leadership role offered at York and these two graduating students are instrumental in leveraging student voice and shaping our school’s culture.

Questions? Please contact Adina Fuss, Coordinator, Senior Student Leadership at afuss@yorkschool.com.

Tour for Humanity Bus - Wednesday, March 27

On Wednesday, March 27 The York School will welcome the Tour for Humanity bus from the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal organization.

All students in grade 6 will attend workshops about the Holocaust, in line with their curriculum, throughout the day. Similarly, students in the Grade 10 World Issues classes will attend with curriculum links to oppression, discrimination, genocide and global human rights issues.

Students should be prepared to walk to and from Yorkminster Park Church where the bus will be stationed. As such, they should dress appropriately for the weather.
