Chair Candidate Meet & Greet - Friday, 8:10 - 8:40 am in the Cafeteria
Our community will have its final opportunity to meet with the Chair Candidates tomorrow morning in the Cafeteria.
Stop by for a cup of hot chocolate and learn about what each Candidate plans to bring to our school next year! We encourage all our students to use this opportunity to continue to inform themselves as voters.
Student Leadership Update - Chair Election Tuesday
Students and staff are looking forward to electing our Chair’s of Student Leadership next Tuesday during our community assembly.
Over the past week, The York community has had many opportunities to become informed voters before the speeches and vote. As this is the highest leadership position offered at York, and these two graduating students are instrumental in leveraging student voice and shaping our school’s culture, we are excited to hear what each Candidate will propose for our future.
The results of the election and interview process will be shared on Wednesday, April 1.
Following the Chair election, our student leadership application process will continue with Director and Coordinator interviews for grade 10 and 11 students, Grade Representative elections for Grades 9-11 and leadership committee appointments. Students will find out about their placements for the 2026-2027 school year on Friday, April 17.
Questions? Please contact Erin Porter, Director, Student Life and Belonging at eporter@yorkschool.com.
PRIDE Week - AprIL 7-10
The week of April 7 - 10 we will have York’s annual Pride week. This year, the Belonging & Outreach student leadership committee has chosen to mirror Pride TO’s theme: We Won’t Stop - a look at the history of Pride in our city and the ongoing work for creating safe and inclusive spaces for our LGBTQIA+ communities.
In this vein, we are reaching out to our parent community to ask if you would like to join us in exploring the question: “What does Pride mean to you/Why is Pride important to you?” at our Tuesday, April 7 assembly at 9:00am. This will be our kick off to Pride week!
We are looking for individuals to share a 1-2 minute video segment answering the above questions or a 4-5 minute response, if you are able to join us in-person.
If you are interested in contributing to our assembly in either capacity, please reach out to Erin Porter, Director, Student Life & Belonging at eporter@yorkschool.com.
