Senior School Summer Reading Program

We're thrilled to announce that the Summer Reads 2026 program is launching this week! Whether students are looking to dive into a gripping page-turner, Ms. Yu has created an amazing list of summer reads. Explore a new genre, or simply make the most of summer break, this is a great chance to read for fun, earn rewards, and connect with fellow readers. The programme runs from the beginning of June – September 30, 2026.

Here is the best part: No registration is required. Students can jump in at any point during the summer, whether that is day one or mid-August and start earning rewards immediately.

Two Ways to Participate

1. Book Bingo
Complete 4 squares in a row on a bingo card by reading books that match different categories (think: a book with a blue cover, a book by an author you've never read before, a mystery, and more). Once a row is completed, submit a photo or email the completed worksheet as evidence of reading to Mr. Regner. Every submission enters students into a prize draw for something exciting.

2. Reading Log
Earn 50 points for every 30 minutes of reading and unlock tiered prizes based on reading hours. See the LibGuides Summer Reading program for more details.

Ready to get started? Books are available now on display in the library, and for those who prefer digital reading, explore our collection on Sora. Looking for recommendations or want to browse curated lists by genre and theme? Visit our Middle & Senior School Library: Summer Reading LibGuides for inspiration and resources.

Submission Instructions:

When students are ready to claim rewards, they should submit their Book Bingo photos or Reading Log entries by email or in person no later than the end of September 2026. The library team cannot wait to celebrate summer reading achievements!

This summer is the perfect opportunity to escape into new worlds, discover stories that stay with you, and maybe even find your next favorite book. Whether students are reading one book or ten, we are excited to have them join this initiative.

International Excursion Interest Form

Hello current Grade 8 to 11 students and parents,

In the 2026-2027 school year, The York School is tentatively planning to offer the following International Excursions to eligible students in our Senior School:

Click here to learn more about this offering

For more information please speak to Ms. Barber.

B. Grade 9-12 Music Excursion to Spain in February 2027

Click here to learn more about this offering

For more information please speak to Mr. MacFarlane or Mr. Pittman.

Please review the one page overview of each trip offering and discuss these excursions as a family. Then we ask that parents complete this interest form by Friday, June 12.(Please note that cost ranges included in the one page overviews are approximate, and could be updated for the Venturing Out form released in September)

Filling out this form does not guarantee a spot on any of the above offerings. It helps the school to gauge interest in these potential international excursions.

More information will be shared with interested students and their families in September 2026 (including a detailed Venturing Out Form).
