York Scares Hunger Food Drive - OctOBER 20 - 31

This year, we are encouraging students and families to help alleviate food insecurity in our community and city by supporting our annual York Scares Hunger campaign in one of the following ways:

  1. Bring in the following items and place them in your House bin outside the Student Life office in the cafeteria or the Middle School commons between October 20 - October 31.

  2. Meals on Wheels at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church
Another way to get involved with supporting food share needs in the city is through the Meals on Wheels program. Just up the street from our campus at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church, is a Meals on Wheels site - providing delicious food to senior community members in need.

Students and families can get involved with Meals on Wheels by baking items for their program as well as delivering meals throughout the week. Check out their website for volunteer opportunities or to make a monetary donation to support their programming, please click Here

Throughout Halloweek, students and staff will have many opportunities to get into the spooky season and contribute points to their house standings!

  1. Halloween Hunt - find the pumpkins, witches, goblins and ghosts hidden around York and return them to the Hunt box at the Student Life office for house points!

  2. Halloween Costume Catwalk Assembly - On Halloween, show off your spirit by walking the catwalk with your Grade in costume during our morning assembly! Alternate, low-sensory programming is also available during this assembly in room 327.

  3. Middle School Homeroom pumpkin carving and door decorating will take place all week long on the 4th floor at recess and lunch.

  4. The YPA Middle School Halloween Carnival in the Fitness Centre will take place on Friday at Recess - a final chance to win house points and candy!
