STUDENT LIFE AND BELONGING
Service As Action Week - Focus on Accessibility - Next Week!
For our SAA week, we will be highlighting several partnerships that The York School community has with organizations that provide inclusive and accessible programming to disabled communities within the GTA - DramaWay, The Beverley School, Holland Bloorview, and Special Olympics - to name a few.
Please review the schedule below and note the week-long activities:
House Challenge Coin Drive for Holland Bloorview’s Family Support Fund - supporting families in need of medical equipment, access to recreational programs or respite care as well as life skills programs for disabled teens.
Drop toonies and loonies in your house jug for positive house points and bills in other house’s jugs for negative points.
Packing a Smile Toy Drive - please consider donating new, small toys to be sent to children and teens receiving long-term care in GTA hospitals and rehabilitation centres. Drop off bins are outside the Student Life office in the cafeteria.
Finally, on Wednesday we will wear red shirts as a sign of solidarity with supporting AccessAbility in Canada with the caveat that Grade 10 students who are attending the Auschwitz exhibit at the ROM should wear their uniform.
Questions? Please contact Erin Porter, Director, Student Life & Belonging at eporter@yorkschool.com.
