Student Life & Belonging

spirit week - may 19 - 22

It is the final House Spirit Week of the 2025-2026 school year! Our Spring into Spirit week will be the last chance for students and staff to gain points for their houses. Points will be given for participating in the theme-wear casual days, competing in Tuesday’s House Challenge assembly and completing the recess/lunch-hour activities.

Check the schedule to join us as we Spring Into Spirit!

YPA Puppy Visits! - May 19 - 21

To complement our Spirit week, our generous YPA has arranged for our students to be visited by goldendoodle puppies over the course of 3 recess/lunch hours!

Students will sign up in the cafeteria at the start of each recess/lunch hour for one of three session times each day.

We are so excited to boost our spirits and wellbeing with furry friends and appreciate our partnership with our YPA!

Ports of Hope is a student - led initiative that helps to restore dignity, comfort, and hope for brave pediatric patients battling cancer through fun and colourful graphic tees that allow for easy access to port sites. Often patients have to endure uncomfortable lifting or removing of clothing during already challenging treatments; Ports of Hope aims to reduce the disruption and discomfort of this process through their accessible shirts.

It costs $15 to make one “Port of Hope” shirt and we are challenging our York community to raise enough money for 50 shirts to support this wonderful cause!

Students and staff can donate through our Coin Jug House Challenge throughout spirit week! Dropping loonies and toonies into your own house jug will create positive points and placing bills into opposing House jugs will subtract points!
