Locker and Desk clean-out 

  • Over the next couple of weeks, students will be given time to clean out their lockers and desks.

  • Students should take home anything they need over the March break, e.g., coats and boots.

Grade 7 Fort York Excursion - Monday, March 2, 9:15am - 3:05pm

  • This trip extends learning regarding the life and experiences of soldiers and warfare in British North America before, during, and after the War of 1812.

  • Students must bring a packed lunch and wear weather appropriate clothing.

YORK’S GRADEST SHOWDOWN SPIRIT WEEK - Next Week!

Looking to end the winter term in style and spirit, our student leaders have planned the second annual grade vs grade competition called The Gradest Showdown. This is a fun week of activities and casual-theme days! 

Grades will compete against each other for the bragging rights as to which grade is the best! 

Please see the schedule below for all the activities students can participate in.

Monday: White Lies

Students wear a white t- Shirt and will write their “white lie” on a sticker when they get to school.

Tuesday: ROYGBV 

Students dress head to toe in their grade specific colour.

Grade 6 - Red
Grade 7 - Orange
Grade 8 - Yellow
Grade 9 - Green
Grade 10 - Blue
Grade 11 - Purple
Grade 12 - Pink
Teachers: Rainbow

Wednesday: Rhyme Without Reason

Students can dress up with a partner or a group as pairing words that rhyme. They can also do this themselves wearing two items that rhyme

Examples:
Gown with a crown
Bling and a sling
Green and Queen
Socks and frocks
Race Car and Superstar
Weight Lift and Taylor Swift
Reader and Cheerleader
Snowflake and Birthday Cake

Thursday: Merch Day

 Any type of branded clothing (sports, music, camps, School)

Friday: Anything but a backpack day

Students come to school carrying their books and supplies in anything other than a regular backpack! Students can get creative and use a safe, school-appropriate alternative to transport your materials for the day.
For example: laundry baskets, tote bags, small suitcases, pillow cases

Student Leadership Applications for 2026-2027 - Open Now!

Student leadership is one of the many ways to get involved and connected with the York school community in a way that amplifies student voice and influences our student life programming. 

Please encourage your students to review the Leadership Descriptions Doc and note Grade Eligibility for each role before completing their application. 

Students will be able to rank their top 3 choices on the general application. The timeline for applying to all positions, as well as elected and interviewed positions, can be reviewed here.

General applications will close on Thursday, March 5 @ 4:00pm. The Chair Candidate application closes on Thursday, March 5 @ 12:00pm with a candidates’ meeting at 4:00pm the same day.
