House Challenge Morning - Tuesday, December 16, 9:05am - 9:55am

Grade 6 Geometric Art Exhibition - Wednesday, December 17, 2:00pm - 3:20pm
The Grade 6s will be inviting their parents to view their geometric art exhibit in which they will explore angles, triangles, and transversals.
They will explore the global context of personal and cultural expression and use mathematics to analyze and create artistic forms of expression. You are invited to question whether art is more inspiration or calculation.
Winter Wonders Afternoon - Thursday, December 18, 1:30pm - 3:15pm
Middle School students will participate in a Winter Wonder’s afternoon on Thursday, December 18 from 1:30pm - 3:15pm.
Students will work in house teams and move through challenges to gain points for their house.
Students will have homeroom from 3:20pm - 3:30pm.
Winter Break (No Classes) - Friday, December 19 - Friday, January 2
Classes resume on Monday, January 5
Club Photo Days - Thursday, January 8 - Friday, January 9
Club supervisors will sign up for a photo timeslot and inform their students.
Students who missed the October photo day will be contacted about arranging their individual photo.
Semester Two Design/Art Changeover - Monday, January 19
The last day of semester one will be on Friday, January 16, 2026.
The semester two changeover for Grades 6 Art to Design and Grade 7 Design to Art will be on Monday, January 19.
CanGrad - Individual Student Photos
Last week, students received their CanGrad individual photos and Student ID cards (proof of age cards) to take home.
If you have any questions about your students' photos please reach out to CanGrad Studios.
Students who missed photo day in October will have a chance to have their individual photos taken on January 8th. Parents and students will be notified by email if this applies to them.
Class photos have been emailed to parents.
Locker and Desk clean-out
Over the next couple of weeks, students will be given time to clean out their lockers and desks.
Students should take home anything they will need over the winter break e.g. winter coats and boots.
15th annual Grade 7 Pinewood Derby
The 15th annual Grade 7 Pinewood Derby race will take place on Monday, December 8, 2025 from 8:30am - 11:40am in the Fitness Centre at the 1320 Yonge Street campus. Students will be showcasing their car designs and testing them to find out who produced the fastest car.
Parents, guardians and members of our community will have the opportunity to watch the event in person on campus. Or the event can be viewed virtually by accessing the Livestream Link.
If you are visiting the campus for the event, please ensure you enter the 1320 Yonge Street building from the main doors. Kindly sign in at reception to obtain a visitor's badge and you will be directed to the Fitness Centre.
Everyone will have the opportunity to vote for the “People’s Choice” award on race day using the linked Google Form: https://forms.gle/mFRRrMHT4pavRtcb8

York’s Annual Winter Clothing Drive for New Circles
Now until Friday, December 12.
Please bring in only the following items and place them in the house bins outside the Student Life & Belonging office in the Senior School cafeteria or Middle School Commons.

Eco Committee wishes all York families a Green Holiday!
December 8 - 12, students and staff can bring in any gifts they might be giving over the winter break and have them sustainably, and beautifully, wrapped by our Eco Committee. Come to the Eco table in the cafeteria at lunch hour throughout this week and have your gifts wrapped while you eat!
December 15 - 18, York is encouraged to BYOM! Bring Your Own Mug, of course!
Students and staff can show their reusable mug to the Eco team at Reception each morning and earn house points, and have some free hot chocolate too, as a way to reduce our reliance on single-use cups in the cafeteria.

FINAL HOUSE CHALLENGE WEEK OF 2025! December 15 - 18
Students and staff are looking forward to the winter break, but not before we have one final spirit week of 2025!
With daily casual-dress theme days, lunch-hour activities and a House “Chilly Challenge” Spirit assembly, there is much to look forward to.
