What you need to know
Uniform Reminder: Please make sure to label all student uniforms as we have a lot in the lost and found and we are still in the first week of school.
Uniform Clarification: We have received a number of questions regarding uniforms, and would like to provide the following clarification:
Gym Days: On days when students have gym at the Junior School, they may come to school in their gym uniform with the black hoodie.
Regular School Days: On days without gym, students are expected to wear the school uniform, which includes the grey sweater.
Athletic Co-Curriculars: If a student has an athletic co-curricular before or after school, they may also wear their gym uniform with the black hoodie, as there are no changing rooms available at the Junior School.
JK and SK Exception: JK and SK students may wear the gym uniform every day.
Reminder for Yonge Street Door Pick-up at 3:20: Please give your child’s name to the teacher at the door, then line up along the building. This helps us share the sidewalk, and your child will be walked out to you.

PURCHASE AN ORANGE SHIRT TO HONOUR NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH & RECONCILIATION ON TUESday, SEPTEMBER 30
On Tuesday, September 30, The York School will honour the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation/Orange Shirt Day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear orange as a reminder that Every Child Matters and to commemorate the experiences of Residential School Survivors and their families.
The orange shirt symbolizes the story of Phyllis Webstad, whose new orange shirt was taken away on her first day at residential school—now a powerful reminder of the loss of culture and identity faced by Indigenous children. As a school, we will also take part in divisional assemblies, classroom activities, and discussions to deepen understanding of Indigenous perspectives and the lasting impact of residential schools.
If you would like to support the Orange Shirt Society, please purchase your child’s official orange shirt from the list of approved vendors below:

rRespecting Our Park and Community Spaces
We are fortunate to have such beautiful community spaces surrounding our school. As a reminder, when spending time in the park we ask families to help model and encourage care and respect for our shared environment. This includes:
Staying on designated paths and avoiding climbing through greenery or landscaped areas.
Leaving flowers, plants, and natural features untouched.
Avoiding moving gravel or other park materials.
Picking up after ourselves and ensuring the area is left as we found it.
Together, we can help preserve these spaces for everyone to enjoy. Thank you for supporting our students in developing a sense of responsibility and respect for our wider community.
