Junior School - March 28, 2024

UPCOMING EVENTS

What you need to know

  • Ms. Gillian Hickman is currently on medical leave. In her absence, Ms. Sarena Henry, who has been a familiar face around the Junior School since the start of the academic year, will be stepping in.

  • Ms. Lindsay Rosen has decided to leave us for personal reasons. We're excited to announce that Ms. Kendra Hutton, who is returning from maternity leave, will be our Music teacher for the remainder of the academic year. Our music appreciation program under her guidance promises to be both enriching and engaging, introducing students to a broad spectrum of musical genres and practices. This includes special sessions with professional musicians and experts, offering unique insights and experiences.
Please note, there will not be an achievement level for music in the upcoming June report.

  • A new contactless check - in system has been implemented for visitors to The York School. An ipad is now replacing the previous paper sign in system. Visitors  have to sign in the first time and then all information will be saved for future visits. A tag with the name and picture will be printed. The tag must be worn at all times when on campus. For any help or questions Zach Vito will be available to assist. Please don’t forget to sign out when leaving.

  • A Day in the Life of JK/SK is an event for JK/SK parents to visit the school and have the experience of learning and sharing parts of the day with their children. Invites and information have been communicated to JK/SK families.

  • International Day of Pink: Wear pink casual, no uniform day.

FRIENDLY REMINDER - DROP OFF AND PICK UP FLOW

Drop Off and Pick Up

Any student in any grade is welcome to drop off and pick up at any door at any time. We do not designate locations based on grades with the exception that Kindergarten students may be collected from the Kindergarten door.

Drop Off

Junior School students JK through Grade 5 should arrive at school between 8:15am - 8:30am. All drop-offs will be “indoor drop-offs” where students will immediately enter the building and go to their classrooms.

Pick Up

Pick-up at the end of the school day will follow the “indoor pick-up” procedure. Students will wait in their classrooms until they are called down when their parents arrive.

To alleviate possible congestion at drop-off and pick-up, we invite our community to consider riding or walking to school. Remember, students may always be dropped off or picked up using the “Kiss-and-ride” accessed through the lane off Glen Elm Avenue at the back of the Junior School.

Please note that there is no parking permitted in the church parking lot at any time. Please refer to The Family Handbook for more details.
