HONOURING NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH and RECONCILIATION/ORANGE SHIRT DAY
When: Tuesday, September 30
What to wear: Students and staff are encouraged to wear orange as a reminder that Every Child Matters and to commemorate the experiences of Residential School Survivors and their families. Students should still wear their uniform bottoms with their Orange Shirt.
Athletics
What a great week! York’s Varsity Girls Basketball team opened their season with a convincing win over Trafalgar Castle, while the Varsity Boys Soccer Team moved to 2-0 on the season, with wins over Crescent and Upper Canada.
Next week, all our teams are in action. York athletes playing on September 30 will be wearing a Storm “Every Child Matters” t-shirt during warm-up as a way to show our respect on Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
We look forward to York’s First Friday Night Lights basketball games on October 17. We’ll have a great food truck, in-game raffles, and lots of school spirit. The event is all about community and Storm spirit, so we invite our whole school – Junior, Middle and Senior School students and families to join in the fun!
Let's Go!!
Mr.D
