MESSAGE FROM STRUAN ROBERTSON, HEAD OF SCHOOL

Emergency Communication

Dear Parents and Guardians,

In the event of an emergency such as a fire or lockdown, The York School uses a tool called BrightArrow to communicate with families. It provides the school with the ability to send text, email and/or voicemail messages.

On September 12 (in the Middle/Senior School campus) and on September 19 (Junior School campus) we will have our first lockdown drills and test our Brightarrow text messages to our parent community.

Thanks in advance for your attention to this matter, which highlights the importance of ensuring your contact details are up to date in YorkNet.

Communicating with Our Teachers - What to Expect

All home-school communication should be via email or phone call. Parents should only use teachers' cell phones in the case of an emergency during field trips or Challenge Week trips etc.

The York School expects our teachers to respond to parent emails within 24 hours and not during weekends or school holidays unless the issue involves student safety.

Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.

2024 - 2025 Yearbook

The 2024 - 2025 yearbooks have arrived and have been distributed - you should receive it at home this weekend. If you have any questions, please reach out to Tahsin Noman at tnoman@yorkschool.com or your child’s homeroom teacher.
Please note: The school has ordered 1 yearbook per student (current students in Grade 7 - Grade 12) and there are no extras.

Athletics

The York Storm has arrived and our CISAA competitors will experience a storm that is passionate and resilient each time we enter the arena of sport.

TYS Storm Athletics has launched. Teams are taking shape and communications are starting to flow.

We wish our Varsity Boys Volleyball team the best of luck as they are off to McMaster University tomorrow, starting their journey in representing CISAA at the Provincial Championships in November.

We have an exciting weekend clinic with NBA Skills Coach David Nurse at the York School and there is still room to sign up.
