Snow Day COMMUNICATION: Staying Safe and Staying Warm

As we head into the heart of winter, we want to ensure every York School family is prepared for the occasional "snow day." While these days are rare in Toronto, the safety of our students and staff is always our primary concern.

How will you know? If the Head of School decides to close the campus, we will notify you by 7:00am via:

  • Direct Alert: An email and text message sent to your primary contact in YorkNet.

  • School Website: A banner alert on YorkSchool.com.

  • Social Media: Updates on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Note on Programming: If the school is closed for a Snow Day, all extracurriculars, including athletics and clubs are cancelled for the day.

The York School Philosophy on Snow Days: We believe in the occasional "gift of time." If we have a snow day, we encourage our students to step away from the screens, head outside, and enjoy the winter weather with family and friends!

2026-27 DRAFT Academic Calendar - one change

The DRAFT 2026-27 Academic Calendar was shared in The Flash just before the winter break. One update we can share today is that Friday, December 18 will now be part of the winter break (no school).

The only other potential change we are waiting on confirming with CIS Ontario is the March Break dates as Easter falls in late March 2027. Some schools are still considering if they will incorporate Easter into their March Break. York's decision is firm as per the calendar.

Happy New Year!

Storm Athletics is back and in full swing!

Huge congratulations to our JV Girls Volleyball, who were quarterfinalists at the Brock University Invitational.

Our U13 Boys Basketball team has moved to 2-0 on the season with a convincing win over Kingsway College. Multiple Basketball teams are on the road this weekend participating in tournaments. We wish our U14 (playing Appleby), U12 (Upper Canada) and Varsity (Trinity) teams good luck!

The Battle of Farnham is coming and we want our entire community there. The goal is simple… Let’s make this the best Friday Night Lights ever!

This is a “White Out” game so please wear your “White” and this is what we want it to look like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pi_HiInBip.
