MESSAGE FROM STRUAN ROBERTSON, HEAD OF SCHOOL

  • Proud of our Junior School students for braving the cold and enjoying the snow!

  • Tomorrow's Junior School Assembly will be about the learner profile attribute of the month, Risk-Taking.

  • International Day of Holocaust Remembrance Assembly is taking place on Tuesday, January 23, with special guest speaker and Holocaust survivor Sol Nayman. Sol had the opportunity to travel back to Poland last March for the March of the Living. Two of our senior students, Ben and Ethan, were able to accompany Sol on that trip and they will be introducing Sol during our assembly.

  • We hosted the Independent Schools of Ontario Mathematics Association (ISOMA) Conference at our upper campus last week and hosted more than 100 math teachers. Thank you to our math team, teachers, and leaders.

Snow Day School Information

We’d like to remind students and parents/guardians of our school closure procedures for inclement weather (Snow Day) or other urgent reasons.

The York School closure decisions are made by the Head of School after careful consideration for the safety of students and staff.

In the event that the school were to close due to a snow day, you will be notified by:

  • An email from the Head of School by 7:00am or earlier

  • An announcement posted to The York School homepage

  • Notifications posted to social media (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook)

All extra curricular programming will also be cancelled (athletic clubs, etc…) in the event of a snow day.

As snow days are rare in Toronto, the school encourages families to get outside, take a break from screens and enjoy being together.

Athletics

What a week for TYS! Our Varsity Girls won a tough 5 setter vs Appleby. Our Varsity Boys were Bronze Medalists at the King of the Hill Tournament in Hamilton. Our U12 Boys Basketball team won the Premiere Division at the UCC Invitational while our U13 and U14 Boys and Varsity D3 Team and U14 Girls Volleyball teams continue to be undefeated. Also, huge shout out to our Boys Open Ski Team who won the first race at Mansfield this week.

Let’s keep rolling.

Mr.D
