MESSAGE FROM STRUAN ROBERTSON, HEAD OF SCHOOL
Thank you to our Black History Month Assembly speaker - Canadian Afrofuturist artist Adeyemi Adegbesan, aka Yung Yemi. Adeyemi’s work will further our learning of how his art “examines the intersectionality of Black identity” within the Afrofuturist context.
Tomorrow at the JS we will welcome our virtual guest author - Khodi Dill, who will share his book Welcome to the Cypher, a joyful celebration of rap, creativity, and self-expression.
Senior School semi-formal tomorrow night at The Warehouse.
Junior School movie night next Wednesday.
Personal Project Showcase for grade 10 parents on Tuesday at the 1320 campus.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR A YPA TREASURER
The York Parents’ Association is looking for a volunteer from our parent community to work with our current Treasurer to support them and learn about the role from now until the end of the school year in June 2024. This person will then take on the role of the YPA Treasurer starting July 2024. This volunteer position is a YPA Executive role, and ideally involves a two year commitment.
If you are interested in this role, please fill out the form by Thursday March 7, 2024.
Athletics
Well, it is official, this term has seen a first at our awesome school! Three of our teams… Varsity Skiing, Varsity Girls Volleyball and Varsity Boys Basketball (2nd year in a row) are all headed to OFSAA (Ontario High School Provincial Championships). This is a massive accomplishment and shows our younger athletes that “Anything is possible.”
Next week, is a busy week at TYS with both our U14 D1B Boys and Varsity D3 Boys Basketball teams hosting Final Fours.
Below are the practice schedules for the Spring Term. Practices for the Middle and Senior School will begin March 26, 2024 while the Junior School will begin the week of April 1, 2024.
