Athletics

TYS Community, I’m super pumped for this initial communication so let’s start it off with my go to… LEEEEEEET’S GO!

TYS continues to be on the rise in Athletics and our success continues in the arena of sport beyond TYS!

  • After a decorated career at the University of Toronto, alumnus Julia Murmann ‘20 continues to represent our country on the national volleyball team and has signed her first professional contract in Italy!

  • Gavin Betts, a York School hockey legend, dominated at The Hlinka Gretzky Cup and is excited to lead the Kingston Frontenacs into action.

  • Sol Henson ‘25, fresh from repping our country in volleyball at the Norceca Championships, is excited to take on the U Sport world at UBC this year. Would not be surprised if she is a conference all-star and U Sport Rookie of the Year nominee. Good luck, Sol!

  • Delfina Henson ‘25 is excited to suit up for the UBC volleyball team as they look to bring home another U Sport championship.

  • Georgia Baldwin ‘25 is excited to be repping McGill on the soccer field for the Lady Martlets this season!

  • Alex Malkani ‘25 takes his talents to Colby College to impact the Varsity Rowing program!

  • Helen Sava 23’ is pumped for her Junior Year at Louisiana State University, looking for more SEC and NCAA success.

A couple of notes for Multi Sport athletes. In the Junior School this fall, athletes can pick a primary team (basketball or soccer) where they attend all practices and games, and may also be on a 2nd team (X-Country) and attend a minimum of 1 practice per week and competitions that fit in their schedule.

Multi-Sport athletes in the Middle and Senior School must have a conversation with the Director of Athletics and be given approval before participating in 2 sports in one term.

The reason for this clarity centres around CISAA Athletics and moving to common play dates. We encourage two sport participation, but never want to lose sight of balance.

This year we really want to use the momentum of the last few years to continue fueling our standard and being “Together” only makes our program stronger.

Don’t forget about our amazing clinics in September with NBA skills coach David Nurse and Momentum Volleyball. We really want all our hoopers and vballers at these amazing training sessions to get a head start on the competition.
